A legendary and eclectic guitarist, once with Captain Beefheart and other rock bands.
Also known for:-
- slide guitar work;
- his film work;
- his role in the increased appreciation of traditional Cuban music (as producer for Buena Vista Social Club) - his role in bringing "Malian Blues" to a wider audience.

In his collaborations with important artists (the Rolling Stones, Little Feat, the Chieftains, John Lee Hooker, Gabby Pahinui, Ali Farka Touré), Cooder has managed to cover dustbowl folk, tex-mex, soul, gospel, rock and almost everything else.
